AI Adoption in B2B Software

AI is reshaping expectations in B2B software – but what does this mean for software vendors?
Together with OC&C Strategy Consultants, we surveyed and interviewed more than 360 executives across the DACH region to understand how small- and medium-sized companies are adopting AI, what they expect from their software providers and where they see real value.
Our study looks at four key areas: disruption risk for incumbent software vendors, revenue potential, how to convince buyers and how AI should be productised. The findings show strong demand: 92% of software buyers expect their software budgets to increase by almost 60% over the next 2–3 years, while 78% already use or plan to use AI automation features. At the same time, customers increasingly expect vendors to demonstrate clear, measurable value from AI.
